ALYSS is a multidisciplinary artist synthesising voice, music and visual systems.
Through electronic production, piano composition, and hand-drawn geometry, she builds physical and digital worlds where symbolic precision and unfiltered vulnerability meet.
For ALYSS, the creative process begins where immediate reality ends. Drawing from dreams, meditations, and the "strange synchronicities" of the subconscious, her work is both a translation and compass for processing the intangible.
The relationship to music was cultivated early. A classically trained pianist and violinist, she transitioned from singing at weddings and hotels to releasing music with major labels, earning BBC Radio 1’s Hottest Record, and composing for the London Contemporary Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios.
However, the weight of external recognition soon led to the pivotal realisation many soon come to - that accolades do not always equal creative freedom. This turning point refocused her practice toward emotional honesty and a deeper commitment to artistic integrity above all else.
Her background is defined by a unique duality. She was raised between a father who plays violin for the Royal Opera House, surrounded by astrology, inventions, and UFO discourse, and a mother who was a "larger-than-life" socialite, working day and night in care for people of all ages and needs.
From this, ALYSS inherited a rare vocabulary. One side gave her a language for subjects outside the norm, pattern recognition, and symbolism; the other grounded her in presence, humour, and the complex beauty of human connection.
It was this fusion that birthed Astroc0des. What began as a meditative practice with a gold pen, compass, and ruler evolved into an intricate merging of astrology and geometry.
Each c0de is hand-drawn using a mix of technical structure and intuitive listening through which she crafts the one-of-a-kind "frequency signature" of a human, animal, place, or event.
Whether through songwriting, etheric soundscapes, or geometric lines, the core of her work remains an ever-evolving conversation with the realities "between", ancient-future memory, and what it means to actually feel at home in oneself.
ALYSS creates not just for expression’s sake, but to offer a sanctuary for those who refuse to bypass the uncomfortable parts of being human, in search of something deeper and more real than the surface of what we're presented with in the current zeitgeist.
‘It is only by accepting our hate that we can choose to love. It is only after we have accepted our rage that we can choose to be understanding. Otherwise we are just pretending to be nice.'
