sil!Cone was made the day after going to an event that changed my life. The Kaxinawá tribe (who call themselves Huni Kuin, meaning “True People”) came to speak in South London. It’s not easy at all for them to leave their land from miles deep in the Amazon rainforest, let alone come face to face with the comparatively disconnected and separated Western ways of living. And yet, the importance of their message is taking them around the world.

They share not only through words, but through prayer, ritual, and music.

I came to the session with Oceaan the next day still swirling from everything I’d absorbed. The lyrics surfaced from a place I haven’t quite felt before, or am able to describe. I can only say there’s an imprint in this track (and subsequent EP) that will forever carry whatever was meant to be carried from that night with the Kaxinawá.
